CUBA INFILTRATES VENEZUELA
Posted by WhoDaresWins on Saturday, February 06, 2010 (17:37:03) (72 reads)
Ramiro Valdes, 77, is one of only four remaining original rebels led by Fidel Castro in the 1950s in Cuba. By Cuban standards, he has had a remarkable career, serving the Castro brothers loyally for years in a variety of posts, some which made him notorious.
Now, Valdes has accepted a new task outside Cuba that is raising skepticism. He arrived this week in Venezuela as a consultant for that country's energy crisis.
Venezuela is facing critical electricity shortages that have created rolling blackouts in some areas. The government of Hugo Chavez blames a long drought that has reduced energy production at the country's main hydroelectric dam, while others say the real problem is a lack of investment in energy infrastructure.
The issue has become a political one, but regardless of the reason for the electricity shortages, experts warn that Venezuela faces a complete electric collapse if something isn't done soon.
That's where Valdes comes in, as well as the critics who have seized upon his biography.

NEW RUSSIAN MILITARY BASES FOR CUBA?
Posted by WhoDaresWins on Wednesday, October 08, 2008 (23:56:54) (289 reads)
The former Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, has urged his country to take a tough stance with Washington over the possible restoration of Russian military bases on the island. Castro says Cuba must refrain from making apologies or giving explanations and excuses. Russian strategic bombers have not landed in Cuba since Soviet times.
In a statement published online, Castro praised his brother’s handling of the issue. Fidel’s younger sibling, Raul, is the acting Cuban president.
“Raul did very well in his dignified silence about the bases for the Russian strategic bombers in our country,” 81-year-old Castro said.
The strategic bombers referred to are Tu-160s, long-range Russian strategic supersonic bombers, nicknamed "White Swans". It has been mooted that they could refuel in Cuba during flights over the Caribbean. The possibility of restoring permanent Russian military bases on the island has also been raised.

CASTRO TO "RETIRE"
Posted by WhoDaresWins on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 (13:51:59) (147 reads)
HAVANA, Feb 19, 2008 (AFP) - Ailing revolutionary icon Fidel Castro permanently gave up the Cuban presidency on Tuesday, ending five decades of ironclad rule of the island marked by his brash defiance of the United States.
In a message published by the online version of the Cuban Communist Party newspaper Granma, the 81-year-old Castro said he would not seek the presidency again when it is decided later this week.
"I neither will aspire to nor will I accept -- I repeat -- I neither will aspire to nor will I accept, the position of president of the council of state and commander in chief," Castro wrote, almost 19 months after undergoing intestinal surgery and handing power temporarily to his brother Raul Castro.

CUBA HAS BW CAPABILITIES
Posted by neverquit on Sunday, April 08, 2007 (15:47:10) (184 reads)
Cuba “almost certainly? has the ability to use weapons of mass destruction against the U.S., a former senior U.S. intelligence official tells NewsMax.
The official responded to a recent NewsMax report by Kenneth R. Timmerman regarding Congress’ closed-door briefing about a Defense Intelligence Agency analyst who spied for Cuba for 16 years.
Ana Belen Montes was arrested in September 2001 on spying charges, but until now most of the details of her work as a traitor have remained classified.
The Montes affair “has even bigger strategic significance than generally recognized,? the intelligence official opined.
“Cuba started an offensive biological weapons program in the 1960s as part of its launch into bio-tech medicine and engineering, where it has long been advanced and energetic.
“In the '60s or '70s, they are reported to have run a funny little experiment to see how they might deliver biological weapons via bottles thrown into the Gulf Stream.

The United States said it had no plans to invade Cuba, after its communist interim leader, Raul Castro, said he had ordered a mobilization to counter a US invasion threat.
"The United States has no plans to invade Cuba," said Eric Watnik, a State Department spokesman, reiterating remarks made by Tom Shannon, the top US diplomat for the region, since Fidel Castro temporarily ceded power to his brother on July 31 following major surgery.
In his first public statement as interim ruler, published by the Communist Party newspaper Granma, Raul Castro said he had mobilized tens of thousands of reservists and militia members to face a possible US invasion threat.

AILING CASTRO CEDES POWER TO BROTHER
Posted by Patriot on Tuesday, August 01, 2006 (06:46:23) (208 reads)
HAVANA — Fidel Castro's announcement that he was temporarily ceding presidential powers to his brother Raul ushered in a period of uncertainty at home and celebrations by his enemies abroad, while fueling speculation on just how sick he is.
The announcement that Castro had been operated on to repair a "sharp intestinal crisis with sustained bleeding" stunned Cubans on the island and in exile, and marked the first time that Castro, two weeks away from 80th birthday, had relinquished power in 47 years of absolute rule.

CUBAN AND VENEZUELAN INTELLIGENCE 'CONFIRM' 911 WAS 'INSIDE JOB'
Posted by Patriot on Thursday, May 18, 2006 (11:07:35) (190 reads)
Add Cuba and Venezuela to the list of countries that knew of and informed the Bush administration about a "major terrorist attack" prior to 911.
In addition to Russia, Jordan, France, Germany, and other nations, Venezuelan and Cuban intelligence picked up chatter about a "major terrorist attack" on the United States prior to 911.
Cuban intelligence, which has an extensive network in Florida -- a home base of the hijackers and their handlers -- initially picked up reports about the attack and passed the information to both the United States and Venezuela. However, the Bush administration failed to react to this and other foreign warnings.

CASTRO IS MAD ABOUT BEING 'RICH'
Posted by Patriot on Saturday, March 19, 2005 (09:35:33) (181 reads)
MEXICO CITY — Most people would be flattered if Forbes magazine estimated their personal fortune at $550 million — but Cuban President Fidel Castro is not, apparently, one of them.
Cuba's embassy in Mexico issued a stinging rebuke on Wednesday of the Forbes article without mentioning the magazine by name, calling it "a repugnant example of a campaign of lies" by "an American magazine of decaying credibility."

CUBA BASHES REAGAN
Posted by WhoDaresWins on Tuesday, June 08, 2004 (19:45:00) (267 reads)
Cuba harshly criticized former President Ronald Reagan and his policies on Monday, saying he should "never have been born."
In the first reaction to Reagan's death from the communist government, Radio Reloj said:
"As forgetful and irresponsible as he was, he forgot to take his worst works to the grave," the government radio station said.
"He, who never should have been born, has died," the radio said.
The statement did not mention Cuba's relationship with the United States under Reagan, a staunch foe of communism.

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom...crouch down and lick the hands, which feed you.
